PAKvBAN: Rain washes out opening day of second Test

ARAWALPINDI – Continuous rains in Rawalpindi have washed out the opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Heavy morning showers delayed the toss and kept both teams in their hotels. The Met Office predicts intermittent monsoon rain, which has made the field marshy despite pitch coverage. The match is now rescheduled to start tomorrow morning, provided the field is dry.

Pakistan, having lost the series opener by 10 wickets last week, faces a must-win situation.

They have omitted pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi from their 12-member squad to allow him time with his newborn son.

Pakistan’s head coach, Jason Gillespie, explained that Afridi’s rest is aimed at finding the best team combination for the game.

The hosts are struggling, with a recent early exit from the T20 World Cup and a whitewash in their last Test series against Australia.
